Hiking Vacation in the Vacation Region Meransen – Gitschberg

Nature and hiking enthusiasts will enjoy all the vacation region Meransen – Gitschberg has to offer: The area invites you to take delightful and interesting hiking tours year-round.

The well-known “Lindenweg” (pilgrimage route) passes right by our farm. This legendary century old trail runs from Mühlbach (Rio di Pusteria) to the pilgrimage church of Saint James and the Holy Three Virgins in Meransen and was first mentioned in the Atlas Tyroleans in 1774. Paved with thousands of granite blocks, the pilgrimage route “Lindenweg” is one of South Tyrol’s most impressive cobbled trails.

Apart from hiking trails, there is also an extensive network of trails for cycling, mountain biking and Nordic walking. Adrenaline junkies can satisfy their cravings while rafting, canyoning or paragliding. The well-maintained bike path network between Mühlbach and Innichen (San Candido) is also very popular. Explore the green Pustertal on two wheels and enjoy a relaxing train ride back to Mühlbach.

Furthermore, there are many different leisure-time activities being offered in and around Meransen: You can play minigolf, go climbing in the high-wire park, go fishing (recreational fishing or fishing with a fishing license), …

The culturally interested will enjoy discovering the numerous museums and sights, giving insight into the history and culture of the vacation region Meransen-Gitschberg: Mühlbacher Klause (western gate into the valley, old toll station), Radengo Castle, Castel Kandelburg, panoramic platform on the Gitschberg, Lodenwelt with the Loden museum in Vintl, …

The Episcopal town of Brixen (Bressanone) has a special flair, and with its many historical buildings and contemporary and stylish shops, it invites visitors to tour the city or to go on a shopping expedition.

In the summertime, South Tyrolean farmers provide the farmer’s markets in Mühlbach (Rio di Pusteria) and Vintl (Vandoies) with farm-fresh produce. There are apples, berries, vegetables, honey, potatoes, cheese, donuts, herbal teas, cakes, juices, bacon, wine, but also turned wood artwork and such.
