Ski Vacation in Meransen – Gitschberg

The winter sport area around the “Gitsch” is located at the ideal elevation of 1400 to 2500 meters above Meransen. With the comfortable 8-passenger cabin lift, you are taken directly up to 2.107 meters, right in the middle of the ski paradise Gitschberg-Jochtal, where you can oftentimes ski and snowboard into the Easter holidays.

Ski pass owners (day, multi-day or seasonal passes) are entitled to use the free ski shuttle; the shuttle station is only 100 meters away. Using your own car, you will be at the valley station of the lift to the Gitschberg-Jochtal lifts within just a few minutes.
There is a ski storage with ski boot dryer available at the Birkenhof farm.

In the ski area Meransen-Gitschberg-Jochtal and the nearby vanguard ski areas Plose, Kronplatz and Gröden (Val Gardena – with the legendary Sella Ronda) are a dream come true for vacationers: Skiing, snowboarding, sledding, winter hikes, snowshoe hikes, ice climbing, ice stock sport (bavarian curling), skating, tobogganing on artificial or natural ice, cross country skiing, paragliding, horse sleigh rides, guided snow shoe hikes, alpine ski tours as well as the typical South Tyrolean ski lodge magic, Après Ski.

Located directly in the center of Meransen, there is a small T-bar lift to take you up to a practice slope and provide the perfect introduction to a fun-filled week in the snow; in the “Zwergele-Park”, the children will be well taken care of. Alongside with a narrow forest slope, the Glitschberg also offers wide, open slopes, giving all lots of room for boundless skiing fun.

The Meransen cross country slope will take you through the pristine and wildly romantic landscape of the Altfasstal. Covering 12 km and with a difference in elevation of 150 m, as well as a difficulty level varying from easy to moderately difficult, it is a cross country run for connoisseurs.

With more than 280 days of sunshine, the Meransen plateau is one of the sunniest locations in South Tyrol. Enjoy a snowshoe hike into the Pfunderer mountain scape, around the Gitschberg, into the Jochtal or to the Rodecker Alm (Rodecker alp). In the evenings, the weekly torch hikes are an unforgettable experience; they take place on Mondays (depending on weather) and are organized by the Grossberhütte (alpine hut).

The Episcopal town of Brixen (Bressanone) has a special flair, and with its many historical buildings and contemporary and stylish shops, it invites visitors to tour the city or to go on a shopping expedition.

And then there is the panorama platform on the Gitschberg: You will never forget the panoramic view of the over 500 mountain peaks stretching from South Tyrol over the Dolomites, the Zillertal, Stubai and Ötztal alps.
